Notes: There are lots of debates about inbreeding in pedigree cats and arguments about using Foundation cats.
Some breeders is very adamant that Foundation cats cannot be healthier as they are never been tested for this or that disease.
My argument is that Mother Nature do choose – sometimes in a quite cruel way – which feral animal going to survive.
Therefore – logically – survives the strongest as they do not have Vets, vaccinations ans cosy homes available and food needs to be found somehow...
Foundation Maine Coon cat is first generation cat bred from a feral Maine Coon.
Clyde is Foundation cat Generation 5, which means that he is 6th generation from a feral ancestor.
Which means – that his inbreeding coefficient is reasonably low and it is easier to find a mating partner for him – who is not related at all.
Clyde is large, very chunky, cute and laid back cat. He is very cuddly, loves his tummy tickled and loves to lay across my desk when it most needed.
Unfortunately he hated to go to shows; but he is OK to be driven in a car – especially if I allow him to sit on my laps or to lay at the back window.
He is very comical (see the pictures) and getting along very well with other cats.
